The Environment Agency (EA) is hosting a series of drop-in events over plans to build a future flood alleviation scheme in Middlesbrough.

Residents are being invited to attend the meetings to submit their views on proposals for a project to protect properties from flooding from Marton West Beck.

Environment Agency Project Manager Ted Thomas said: "We want to know more about flooding in the area and the previous experiences of residents so we can fully understand the flood risk.


"We also want to hear the community's thoughts on potential flood defence improvements in the area. I'd urge people to come along to the drop-ins so we can gather as much information as possible."

Representatives from the EA, Northumbrian Water and Middlesbrough Council will be available to speak to residents during the drop-ins.

The dates and times of the events are as follows;

• 10am – 12pm, Glendale Road Green Space, Friday, 20 January

• 1pm – 3pm, Carnoustie Way Lay-By, Friday, 20 January

• 10am – 12pm, Centre Square, Saturday, 21 January

• 1pm - 3pm, Clairville Common Car Park, Saturday, 21 January
