North Midland Construction (NM Group) has won a £24 million contract to build a new student accommodation project in Sheffield.
The company will develop a seven-storey apartment block on Denby Street. Work is underway on ground remediation work and completion is scheduled for June 2018.
The scheme will create accommodation for 535 students, in apartments arranged in four and five bedroom clusters. The bedrooms are ensuite, with each cluster having its own communal living room and kitchen area.
Liam Le Roux, Vice President, BlackRock Real Estate, said: "This is an exciting opportunity to regenerate a neglected site in Sheffield into a high quality scheme with excellent amenity space that will appeal to students. This development is in line with our ongoing aggregation strategy to build out a substantial student accommodation portfolio in the UK."
Nick Banks, operations director of the NM Group's building division, added: "We are delighted to have been awarded this second contract by Victoria Hall/Blackrock.
"We look forward to working with them to create this major new student accommodation project in the centre of Sheffield."
