Work is underway on a new £27 million building at the University of Warwick.
Morgan Sindall is delivering the new Mathematical Sciences Building at the University's main campus near Coventry. The facility is expected to be open in time for the 2018 academic year.
The six-storey building will include a space for the co-location of inter-disciplinary research and training for the Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics departments. Features will include a large central atrium providing a home to the school's undergraduate and postgraduate students along with a number of high-profile academic researchers.
Professor Colin Sparrow, Professor of Mathematics and Head of Warwick's Mathematics Institute, said: "This new facility will enable our three departments to grow and to work even more closely together. In particular, it will allow us to exploit Warwick's position as one of the five UK universities recently chosen as partners in the creation of the Turing Institute, including interdisciplinary space for both research and teaching in data science. It will also allow us to bring our graduate training programmes closer together in a new Mathematical Sciences Graduate School."
Morgan Sindall's area director for the Midlands, Richard Fielding, added: "This is the latest in a series of buildings we are delivering for the principal higher education establishments in the region. We currently have over 15,000 sq metres of teaching and accommodation space under construction in projects with a combined value of over £75 million.
"We are naturally very pleased that the University of Warwick has entrusted us to deliver this key part of their campus redevelopment."
