RAIB Launches Probe After Steel Pile Left On Railway Line
The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) has launched an investigation after a one-tonne steel pile was left on a railway line in Lancashire.A railway maintenance vehicle stopped short of the large steel structure near Kirkham lsat month (15th May).

RAIB said the pile had been left there on completion of earlier engineering works.
A preliminary examination has been carried out and a safety report is due to be published in the near future.
