Work on a £6.8 million school expansion project in Barnet is now complete.

The scheme at Oak Lodge School was carried out by Morgan Sindall for the Barnet Special Education Trust.

The new two-storey building comprises eight classrooms, two therapy rooms, a PE hall, staff preparation areas and an administration block. It also features a music and art therapy room and two wet-room style hygiene rooms with specially-equipped benches that can be raised and lowered to accommodate the students' needs.

In addition, a sensory garden was developed for students to enjoy, while a large easily-accessible car park was built for mini-buses that transport students to and from the school.

Neil Franklin, area director at Morgan Sindall, said: "Schools like Oak Lodge are truly exceptional places providing the very best support and learning opportunities for children with special educational needs. The facilities at the new building are fantastic and we have worked incredibly closely with the school on this project.

"This is a key resource for Barnet and we're very pleased to have been able to use our extensive expertise in constructing education developments to provide a secure, innovative and exciting learning space for pupils at Oak Lodge."
