Galliford Try Partnerships has won a £120 million contract from Legal & General to deliver a new Build to Rent (BTR) scheme in North London.
The contractor will deliver around 440 homes on the Blackhorse Mills scheme in Walthamstow. Work is underway on the scheme and first residents are set to move in between late 2019 and early 2020.
Features include 440 new Studio, one, two and three-bedroom homes, as well as a wellness centre, private dining rooms, flexible working space, roof terracing and a resident club room overlooking 211 hectares of protected wetlands.
The scheme will also include 20,000 sq ft of commercial accommodation, providing much needed space to creative and start-up businesses in the area.
To improve sustainability, green initiatives such as solar panels will be installed on the roof, providing the building with communal lighting and power.
Dan Batterton, BTR Fund Manager at LGIM Real Assets, said: "Blackhorse Lane is a hugely vibrant and rapidly growing area of London. It needs new quality housing and we are pleased to have appointed Galliford Try Partnerships to help us achieve our vision of creating a vibrant and healthy community."
Stuart Brodie, Managing Director for Galliford Try Partnerships South East, said: "I am delighted that we have been awarded the contract for this prestigious, mixed-use development. Our business recognises that the rental sector has potential for real growth and we are delighted to have our strong track record of providing high-quality housing recognised in this way."
