STEP JV To Deliver New Mental Health Hospitals In London
Sir Robert McAlpine Capital Venture's joint venture (JV) with Kajima Partnerships has been selected to deliver two new mental health hospitals in south west London.
The STEP partnership will work alongside South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) to build the new hospitals worth £160 million at the Trust's Springfield and Tolworth sites, with additional housing also being developed in a parkland setting.
The projects form part of SWLSTG's Estate Modernisation Programme which will bring forward a range of benefits to both users and the local community:
• Two new campuses with first class in-patient facilities
• A 32-acre public park, providing outdoor space for our community.
• Extensive community healthcare
• New housing for local families in Tooting
• A new, modern school
• More than £5m for new transport facilities, boosting links for local residents
David Bradley, Chief Executive, said: "We are pleased to have reached this important milestone. The Trust has been developing the plans for two new hospitals for many years and we are delighted, after a robust procurement process, to have selected STEP to work alongside us to develop the more detailed plans as we move forward to delivering the new hospitals our patients desperately need."
A spokesperson for STEP said: "We are delighted to be working with South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust in delivering its Estate Modernisation Programme. We are very proud to be part of the Trust's plans to provide state-of-the-art mental health facilities at the Springfield and Tolworth Hospital sites and look forward to bringing these plans to fruition."
