Lovell To Deliver £45m High View Regeneration Scheme In Hatfield

Construction News Image
Lovell has been selected to deliver a £45 million residential regeneration project in southern Hertfordshire.

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council has appointed the developer to build new homes and commercial space at High View in Hatfield.

Features include delivering around 150 new homes and approximately 18 commercial units, as well as improving connectivity to the Jim McDonald Centre.

The project is likely to undergo three phases to minimise disruption to residents and businesses, with all work expected to complete in 2022. A planning application is expected to be submitted next year.

As part of its appointment, Lovell will deliver job and training opportunities through the scheme, including around eight apprenticeships, work experience placements and construction skills courses.

Roger Trigg, Executive Member for Corporate Property, said: "The absolute focus for us throughout this process has been finding the right partner to revive High View, recognising its history and place at the heart of the community. It was a meticulous procurement exercise and Lovell submitted the most competitive tender.

"The redeveloped homes and business spaces will breathe new life into the area and we also hope to improve its accessibility, both locally and to other parts of the town.

"We are starting to develop more detailed plans and look forward to hearing what everyone thinks about the proposals later next year."

Stephen Norton, Lovell regional regeneration director, added: "We're very excited to have been selected to work in partnership with the local community and Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council on this major regeneration programme for the High View neighbourhood centre. Our team has a strong record of delivering large-scale, community-focused regeneration schemes and we look forward to bringing that expertise to this important project for South Hatfield."
