Hundreds Of Homes To Be Refurbished In Thurrock, Essex
Wates Living Space has secured a new contract to refurbish hundreds of properties in Thurrock, Essex.
The three-year deal is part of the Transforming Homes programme and involves hundreds of council homes being revamped across Grays and Stifford, with works including kitchen and bathroom renewal, electrical and damp proofing, window replacements, roof maintenance and general structural repairs and modifications.
The deal follows a previous four-year contract that involved working across 3,000 occupied and void properties in the borough, which is scheduled to complete in May.
David Morgan, Managing Director, Wates Living Space, said: "Over the past four years we have developed an excellent working relationship with the team at Thurrock, and we’re delighted that the Transforming Homes contract has been extended for a further three years.
"This extension will allow us to further improve the service we offer the local community, utilising the knowledge we have developed of Thurrock’s housing stock and local geography.
"Through our engagement with the local community, we aim to leave a positive lasting legacy that will benefit the borough for years to come."
Council Leader Rob Gledhill said: "This contract continues to give stability to a project with the simple mandate of improving people’s homes. Thurrock is the largest local landlord, and it is our duty to ensure the homes being provided are safe and well maintained."
