Plans have been approved to build more than 2,500 new homes in south London.
The scheme at Clapham Park represents a major step forward for Metropolitan Housing Association's £1.6 billion regeneration of the park, which will encompass more than 4,000 homes once completed.
With more than half (53%) of the properties to be made affordable, other features include a new central park, a community hub with shops and a range of community facilities.
Mark Connell, Director of JLL Planning Development & Heritage, which helped secure planning approval on behalf of Metropolitan, said: "Submitted as a full detailed application, the design looks at the issues that matter to residents and has been rigorously tested to ensure deliverability and usability.
"We are delighted to have been granted planning approval on behalf of our client and commend Metropolitan and PRP for marrying intensive community involvement with outstanding architecture. The new masterplan puts residents first and is the product of extensive consultation with Lambeth Council and the Greater London Authority."
Geeta Nanda, Chief Executive of Metropolitan, said: "The planning committee approval is very positive news for the residents and our partners in this long-term project. We all want Clapham Park to be a revitalised, thriving and affordable area that local people will feel proud to call home. We now have approval for our new development proposal which I believe will enable us to achieve that."
Construction on site is expected to start towards the end of 2018.
