MPQC Welcomes New Board Member
The Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC) has welcomed Huw Richards, Group Managing Director of South-Wales based Walters Group, to its Board.
As part of a drive towards diversifying industry input by including more representatives, Mr Richards was invited to join Senior Directors from a range of major aggregate and mineral companies, as well as trade associations, who form the MPQC Board.
As a collective, the Board meets at least three times a year to decide the overall strategic direction of MPQC, based on industry requirements, as well as the distribution of resources, funds and responsibility.
On joining the Board, Mr Huw said: "I think it's great that the MPQC Board includes a variety of voices giving input on the future of our sector. I will be able to give a different outlook that will hopefully result in a more complete picture of the industry as a whole. I'm very happy to accept the invitation."
John Wilkinson, Chief Executive Officer of MPQC, said: "We are pleased to welcome Huw, as his experience and knowledge will be a much-valued addition to the current team as we work towards broadening the industry base represented within our Board. We look forward to having his input and perspective, as we continue to extend the reach of the services MPQC offers to the Industry Sector throughout the UK."
Huw will join Darren Stokes, Managing Director of Tripod Crest Ltd, at their first MPQC Board meeting on the 26 April, bringing the number of Directors to nine. They will sit alongside representatives from British Aggregates Association, Tarmac Trading Ltd., Cemex UK Operations Ltd., The Mining Associations of the UK, Hanson UK, Mineral Products Association and Breedon Group Plc.
