Milestone Reached On £2.3m Essex Primary School Expansion
A project milestone has been reached on a £2.3 million primary school expansion scheme in Essex.
Morgan Sindall has achieved the topping out stage of the project at Home Farm Primary School and completion is on schedule for September.
The expansion is being delivered on behalf of Essex County Council and will comprise a new block of nine classrooms and refurbishment work to the existing school building.
Overall, the development will double the school's capacity from a one-form entry (210 pupils) to a two-form entry school (420 pupils). Detailed remodelling works are also to be undertaken within the existing school.
Saul Humphrey, Managing Director at Morgan Sindall's East region, said: "We're so pleased to have reached this significant milestone in the expansion to Home Farm Primary School. A topping out ceremony is always a great cause for celebration for our project teams and it was a fantastic opportunity to invite teachers and pupils to enjoy this journey with us.
"We're looking forward to handing the new building over to the school later this year, which will enable Home Farm to welcome more pupils into its classrooms and benefit from state-of-the-art teaching facilities."
Cllr Ray Gooding said: "We are delighted to be investing in the school improvements here for the benefit of children in Colchester. We look forward to seeing the end result which will help provide more school places to meet the growing demand in the area."
