Nearly 150 new homes are to be built in Old Trafford, Manchester.
Willmott Dixon has won a £20 million contract with Garden City Design and Build, part of Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG), to deliver the 147-unit Limelight housing scheme.
Designed by architect AEW, the project will be located on a nine-acre site on Simonsway, Wythenshawe, with work on the mix of houses and apartments due to begin in July.
The development is located adjacent to the Manchester Enterprise Academy where Willmott Dixon built the Drury Building in 2017 to provide more space at the academy.
Anthony Dillon, Managing Director of Willmott Dixon in the North, said: "We are delighted to be working with Garden City Design and Build to create much needed new homes for Wythenshawe. As a local company, it is great to be back in Wythenshawe and we will aim to use local companies wherever possible to deliver the project."
Wythenshawe Community Housing Group's Group Chief Executive, Nigel Wilson, said: "We are delighted to launch this exciting new project and create much needed affordable housing for this area extending choices for local people wishing to rent or buy.
"We have a diverse and vibrant community with a young and growing population; this development of 147 new homes will be another landmark development for the Group following our Village 135 Extra Care Scheme."
