A-Plant Strengthens Powered Access Fleet

Construction News Image
A-Plant has announced that it has made further investments in its powered access fleet, cementing its position as one of the industry's market leaders.

The company has invested more than £40m in new innovative equipment and since the acquisition of Plantfinder UK, last year, its fleet has increased to over 4,500 units.

A-Plant's extensive powered access fleetholding is hired by customers from various sectors, including construction, engineering, events and manufacturing amongst others. Its booms and scissor lifts are used for a wide range of jobs including roofing, renovations, the removal of scaffolding and cladding from buildings, as well as for general facilities management.

Ian Jordan, Managing Director of General Equipment at A-Plant said on-going investment has enabled the company to win a plethora of major construction contracts over the past 12 months.

He explained: "We have managed to win a number of exciting contracts this year and I believe it is the quality of our equipment, coupled with our truly national presence that has attracted such a high calibre of clients.

"Our access fleet now has an average age of under four years, we have 38 service centres across the country and our latest products are even safer, more productive, greener and more sustainable.

"Plus, Winning 'IPAF Training Centre of the Year' at the International Awards for Powered Access last year has also provided a boost and helped to showcase the importance we place on safety.”

Continuing the company's on-going commitment to innovation, A-Plant Powered Access recently announced that it is developing Trackunit Access Control for its entire powered access fleet.

Designed to reduce costs, drive efficiency and improve safety across multiple sites, the new fleet management system will ensure only authorised personnel with the right training and access codes can operate equipment.

Trackunit will also feature an alarms module to alert site managers should equipment be moved without permission and it will also allow them to activate and deactivate equipment remotely, at any time, via a secure online system.

Ian added: "Safety is paramount when working at height so it is fantastic that we will soon be able to offer a system that prevents unauthorised equipment usage.

"As well as improving safety on site, the new system will also ensure site equipment is in good working order and being used efficiently.

"Plus, the scheduling and downloading of intelligent reports will simplify day-to-day work flows and activity levels, helping to save money and make the most out of man-hours."

A-Plant will continue to invest in its powered access fleet throughout 2018.
