Amey has announced the completion of its acquisition of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) Regional Prime and National Housing Prime contracts.
Formerly managed as a joint venture between Carillion and Amey, the contracts include a range of military infrastructure and housing services delivered on behalf of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), including the repair and maintenance of service family homes and other assets on the MOD estate.
Amey has significant experience within the defence sector, supporting organisations through specialising in Facilities Asset Management. Amey provides services to the MOD's Whitehall headquarters as well as delivering and maintaining a worldwide fleet of vehicles for the MOD through its joint venture ALC.
Following the liquidation of Carillion in January, Amey worked closely with the official receiver to ensure continuity of service for serving personnel and their families, in addition to protecting more than 4000 jobs, both directly and through a national supply chain.
Now that there is a single provider in place efforts can be focused on bringing together the best elements of the previous joint venture and Amey expertise while making significant improvements to service delivery. The team has already undertaken an extensive audit of its service provision, including engagement with military families to identify areas for improvement, ensuring it is focused on end user needs.
Amey is also leveraging its consulting, planning and asset management capabilities to enable a more effective service. Under the new contract, a team of analysts will be tasked with processing vast amounts of project data and creating real-time performance dashboards to improve the way maintenance tasks are scheduled and mobile workforces managed. Coupled with a refreshed set of joint targets with the DIO, these improvements are putting Amey in a strong position to develop a world-class facilities management contract.
Andy Milner, Amey's Chief Executive Officer, said: "We have been working hard over the last six months to fully acquire the CarillionAmey business into Amey. Our aim has been to ensure service personnel and their families continue to receive a high quality, uninterrupted service and I am extremely pleased that we have managed to secure 4000 jobs in the process."
He added: "Since we have taken on the central management of this contract, and while we have been waiting for a deal to be reached, service levels have already improved and I am looking forward to working with the client, military families and supply chain to unlock further service improvements through the life of the contract."
