A contract has been awarded to Raised Floor Solutions for the development of a new £20m multi-storey car park at London Luton Airport.
The firm's specialist car parking division, Metpark, will deliver the 2,000 space five-storey building on the site of the existing short stay car park in the airport's central terminal.
The new car park replaces existing parking provision which has been demolished to make way for the new £225m 'Luton DART'; a high speed train connecting the airport to Luton Airport Parkway Station in under 4 minutes and to central London within 30 minutes. Work on the new rail link is expected to be complete by 2021.
Raised Floor Solution's Metpark division will commence deliveries on the new multi-storey car park in late summer 2018 with a fast track installation programme of 16 weeks for the floor deck.
A total of 46,000m2 of Kingspan Multideck MD80 1.0mm steel floor decking has been specified for the contract, which will be installed by Metpark operatives.
Metpark delivered its first multi-storey car park for London Luton Airport in 2016 with a 1,700-space five-storey multi-storey parking facility.
Raised Floor Solutions Managing Director, Graham Hewitt, said: "At the end of last year, tendering main contractors invited firms to submit bids for the contract. Whilst we had already delivered the first multi-storey car park for Luton Airport, there was no guarantee we would secure the second as each job was being treated independently to ensure the best contractor would be appointed.
"We're pleased that our expertise and experience in this specialist construction field was identified and appreciated. It's an honour to be providing this second facility, which will be used by so many people for so many years, and to play a part in the exciting growth and prosperity of the airport and this area of the capital," he added.
