Morgan Sindall Completes MUGA Build At Norfolk School
Roydon Primary School in Norfolk is celebrating a key milestone in its redevelopment with the completion a of a new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA).
Morgan Sindall is completing a £5 million project to improve the school, and expand its services to reach almost 200 more students.
The build will create eight new classrooms, a main hall, food technology room, reception area, offices, toilets and storage space. Teachers will also be given a new staff room as part of the expansion, while sections of the school's main building and library, which dates back to 1886, will be refurbished.
The project also involves the removal of four old mobile classrooms, and encompasses extensive external works including the construction of a new car park, vehicular entrance and remodelling of the existing car park to create a hard play area.
It is expected to be completed next year.
The scheme is being delivered for Norfolk County Council (NCC) under the Norfolk County Council Construction Framework. The scheme is part of a £169 million investment by NCC to increase the number of school places in Norfolk by expanding or building new schools.
Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure's senior site manager Justin Hunt, recently cut a ribbon to mark the official opening of the new games area.
Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure managing director in the East, Saul Humphrey, said: "We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the opening of the new games area at Roydon Primary School with this joy-filled event which included song, stories, and of course, a good kick-about on the new MUGA pitch!
"The project team has been privileged to get to know this great school community during our time on site. We're delighted to have reached this key milestone on the project and to be making good progress on the construction of the new school.
"We look forward to delivering an outstanding new school for pupils and teachers at Roydon Primary School and to enjoying more celebrations in the future."
