Thakeham Client To Build 125 Affordable Homes In East Sussex
Thakeham Client has secured a £24 million contract to build 125 new affordable homes in East Sussex.
The Clarion Housing development will be located on a greenfield site on Graham Avenue in Portslade.
The project will focus on the affordable housing needs of the area with 22% of homes for rent and 78% for shared ownership. The entrance to the roundabout on Fox Way will also be widened and a new footway on Mile Oak Road has been proposed.
Work on the first phase will begin in June 2019 with the development scheduled for completion in May 2022.
Philip Browne, New Business and Partnerships Director for Clarion Housing said: "We are delighted to appoint Thakeham Client to deliver 125 much-needed homes in Portslade.
"At Clarion we aim to deliver 50,000 new homes over ten years. To make this happen we are building valued relationships with developers, like Thakeham Client, who share our passion for placemaking and quality.
"This scheme further underlines our commitment to delivering high-quality, new homes in Sussex and the surrounding areas."
Thakeham Client managing director, Steve Tuhey added: "This is the largest scheme that we have ever been awarded. We have already worked closely with Clarion on other developments in Elstead and Herstmonceux. Clarion is one of the largest housing providers in the country and we're looking forward to working with them in Portslade over the next three years."
