Resurfaced Car Park And Playground Opens At Wareside Primary School
VolkerHighways has transformed the entrance to Wareside C of E Primary School by improving its car park and playground.
The newly resurfaced area was opened by the contractor and children from the school in an official ceremony.
The car park and playground of the 46-pupil school was left in a poor condition due to significant weather damage, with potholes and uneven ground creating issues during heavy rainfall.
After the school reached out, the Hoddeston-based contractor offered to resurface the area as part of its social value commitment to the communities in which they work.
Tarmac also generously supplied the materials at a reduced cost.
Mrs Gamage, headteacher of Wareside C of E Primary School, said: "We are incredibly thankful to VolkerHighways who helped us transform our school car park and parts of our playground. The entrance to our school is now safe and a welcoming and attractive space. It's made such a difference to our school. All schools are constrained with budgets but as a small school we are even more so. It's due to the generosity of businesses such as VolkerHighways that we are able to undertake such works. As a school community we are privileged to have been able to benefit."
The work was carried out over two days at the beginning of January during Christmas holidays.
