Metropolitan Police Recognises Interserve For Environmental Work

Construction News Image
Interserve has been recognised for its environmental work by the Metropolitan Police.

The Greater London police force gave the firm an environmental award for its work creating an environmentally efficient soil filtration system used to help solve crimes in London.

Interserve's system recycles water and allows for material to be re-sieved, so any evidence possibly missed can be identified.

Richard Aylett, Operational Manager for the Metropolitan Police Operational Support Group, said: "I am extremely impressed by the way Interserve responded to the task. Their solution is much more efficient than the old system we used. We typically use the sieving technique once every couple of years. It is invaluable when searching for tiny fragments of bone that could identify human remains.

"The system has played an important role in cold cases where new evidence has come to light that requires investigating gardens or land for minute clues."

Mel Morgan, Special Events Accounts Manager from Interserve, leads the Interserve team of 26 people at the Metropolitan Police's Merton Park station. The team is responsible for everything from setting up equipment for the Metropolitan Police through to traffic management, building signage, plumbing and the electrics.
