Plymstock School in Plymouth is to undergo expansion works after securing £2.5 million funding from the local council.

The expansion will allow the school to create 200 additional school places.

An arts and drama facility will be built, along with six new classrooms with additional toilet facilities. The existing kitchen and dining facility will also be remodelled.


Council Leader Tudor Evans said: "For the last six years we have been working closely with schools across the city to make sure there were enough school places for primary pupils but now these pupils are starting to move into secondary school we need to make sure there are enough places available to meet the demand. Continued investment in our schools is absolutely crucial if we are to maintain high standards and encourage families to raise their children in Plymouth."

The works are due to start shortly and will be completed in a series of phased completions during 2020.
