New Sports Facilities Installed At Liverpool Prison
Amey has installed new sports facilities at a Liverpool prison to help support rehabilitation.
The firm's Prison Facilities Management and Project Teams completed a new all-weather sports pitch at HMP Liverpool.
This scheme forms part of the Twinning Project spearheaded by former Arsenal chief executive David Dein, which looks to use the power of football to better prepare people for release from prison, by pairing professional clubs with prisons to help tackle reoffending after sentences are served.
The project was completed across two months under the ongoing safety and decency programme being undertaken by HMP Liverpool and their partners to improve living and working standards at the prison.
Jerry Moloney, Director of FM, Defence and Justice, Amey said: "The completion of the project marks a significant milestone in the transformation of HMP Liverpool. By working in partnership with HMPPS, HMP Liverpool and our supply chain partners we have been able to combine all our expertise to help raise the living and working standards within the prison's ageing infrastructure.
"Our teams are always looking for solutions to continually improve the assets and environment for our clients and the work we have undertaken at HMP Liverpool has provided us with a model we have been able to share with HMPPS."
Pia Sinha, Governor HM Prison Liverpool, added: "In the last 18 months we have worked consistently and collaboratively with our partners Amey to deliver significant improvements in our living conditions. Securing funding for the all-weather pitch has been a real boost and the fact that this work has been completed on time shows just how committed we are as a partnership to continue improving the wellbeing of all those who live and work at HMP Liverpool."
