The Only Way Is Granite - New Granite Worktop Summer Stock 2019

Construction News Image
Granite worktops are an amazing addition to any home and The Only Way Is Granite is excited to announce its new summer 2019 range!

This natural stone collection is not only luxurious but it's incredibly durable benefiting from heat resistance and scratch resistance.
Add to this its incredible hygienic qualities and it's no wonder it's become one of the most popular choices for kitchen worktops in Essex and Kent.

In order to retain these natural qualities for as long as possible however, a granite worktop must be taken care of properly because even the toughest things in life need a little TLC. With the right care however, our granite worktops in Essex will withstand the very toughest environments in any home.

A Little TLC For Your Kitchen Worktops

Here are just a few tips to help keep your granite worktops looking as good as they did when they were first installed.

• While granite worktops can withstand spills, it's best to avoid letting them sit on the surface of your kitchen worktop for too long. Despite its usual resistance and tough exterior, like many natural stones, granite is actually porous which means if left long enough and not sealed correctly, the liquids left on its surface could begin to penetrate. Think of foods such as beetroot, lemon juice and of course wine and cooking oil. These could all wreak havoc and cause serious staining. If it's spilt, wipe it up as quickly as possible.

• Sealing your granite worktops regularly is a great way to protect them. The Only Way Is Granite, a supplier of quality granite worktops in Kent and Essex, recommend professionally applied sealant in order to avoid any stains in the future and protect the material for as long as possible.

• When cleaning granite stone, it's highly advised that you use as gentle a soap and cloth as possible. Avoid abrasive sponges and avoid any bleach detergents or those with a high chlorine content. Being too harsh could begin to dull the stone and even remove the sealant. Think warm water with a PH neutral soap.

• While granite is incredibly tough, often resisting scratches and chips, using it as a chopping board is still a big NO. Using an actual chopping board will ensure that even the most hardwearing modern knives avoid the surface of your worktop at all costs. It simply isn't worth the risk.

• Granite is naturally very heat resistant however, extremely hot pans straight from the stove are not well placed directly on top of your granite countertop. Serious heat in a concentrated area could do irreparable damage. The use of a pan stand is highly advised. Likewise with hot drinks, ensure you use coasters at all times. Prevention is better than cure after all.

• When it comes to alcoholic or sugary beverages, we once again advise the use of coasters. While some drinks can obviously stain, others may contain acid that could dull the shine from your worktop.
