Amey Earns Top Marks In Health & Safety Audit
Amey's Utilities business has secured full marks in an external health and safety audit.
This marks the second year running the firm has been given 100% in the audit.
The independent company Achilles audited the Utilities business in early June and spent two days visiting sites in Scotland as well as a further day reviewing management and safety processes with the local management team before awarding a perfect score.
As well as the audit result, Achilles has provided Amey with a platform to showcase its qualifications and demonstrate compliance across a whole host of criteria – such as health and safety, quality and social responsibility – all in one place to help clients make informed choices about their supply chain.
Gerry Mulholland, Director of HSEQ for Utilities, said: "In my experience getting top marks is a rarity as there is so much to cover, some of which is open to interpretation as well. The fact that we have scored 100% for the second year in succession shows that we are doing lots of great things. This includes initiatives like our 2020 Challenge - to leave no streetworks excavation uncovered overnight by 2020.
"Of course, it's important not to be complacent – we need to keep pushing this excellence to get us to our company goal of Zero Harm."
The Achilles audit starts with a pre-qualification questionnaire followed by a visit from a professional, certified auditor. Many clients now require this audit as part of their procurement process making it a crucial milestone for business growth.
