Esther McVey Named Minister Of State For Housing
Esther McVey has been appointed as the new Minister of State for Housing.
The former Minister of State for Work and Pensions replaces Kit Malthouse in the role.
Working with new Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick, her responsibilities will include supporting the Housing Secretary on housing supply policy and building safety and regulations.
Taking to Twitter, Homes England welcomed Ms McVey to the role and said it is looking forward to "#makehomeshappen".
The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has also spoke out over the appointment, voicing its intent to work with the new Minister for Housing to make sure the construction industry's priorities are given the attention required, including a drive to improve building quality and fully implement the recommendations from the Hackitt review, along with measures to eradicate modern slavery from the industry and improve mental health support for those in construction.
