Cancer Research UK has been given the keys to its new London Office in a new development at 2 Redman Place at International Quarter London.
The charity will be the first organisation to move into the 278,000 sq. ft. new building in the autumn and is due to be joined by the British Council, the UK's international organisation for cultural relations and education, later next year.
International Quarter London stands at the gateway to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It is a joint venture development between Lendlease and LCR to create a vibrant new neighbourhood within the heart of Stratford, which brings together new homes, offices, and a diverse mix of shops.
Andrew Tobin, Project Director of IQL for Lendlease, said: "Cancer Research UK's arrival, closely followed by the British Council next year, will be a tremendous addition to our community at IQL. With a unique mix of world-class sporting and leisure facilities on our doorstep, and the artistic and creative scene set to dramatically expand with the impending arrival of the East Bank cultural powerhouse Stratford is fast transforming into one of London's new leading destinations to live and work."
DWS, a global real estate investment manager, acquired 2 Redman Place as a forward purchase in June 2018 for c.£240m, representing DWS's second investment in IQL. They also acquired IQL's second commercial building, which is now the new headquarters of the Financial Conduct Authority and Unicef UK.
2 Redman Place is the third commercial building to open at International Quarter London. It was designed by architects Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and demonstrates the latest thinking in modern ways of working. Spaces are open, adaptable and designed to accommodate more agile ways of working, combined with high levels of natural light and fresh air. The building has provisionally achieved the BREEAM certification of Outstanding.
Adrian Lee, Development Director at LCR, said: "Welcoming leading organisations such as Cancer Research UK and the British Council is another milestone for IQL, further demonstrating the high calibre of businesses that the area is attracting. The fact that world-renowned companies are choosing to make IQL their home reflects the growing appeal of the area as a highly sought-after employment hub, as well as one of the capital's most up-and-coming destinations, offering unrivalled transport connectivity, fantastic workspaces and a diverse retail and cultural offering."
