VolkerRail has won an accolade at this year's Brake Fleet Safety Awards.
The firm secured the Company Driver Safety (medium fleet) Award, recognising its commitment to road safety.
VolkerRail was commended for their work to improve the safety of at-work drivers, through the implementation of a business-wide behavioural safety programme. The programme is strongly focussed upon enhancing driver risk perception via the promotion of effective decision making and self-accountability.
Commenting on the recognition, VolkerRail's HSEQS director, Stuart Webster-Spriggs, said: "We are immensely proud to receive this recognition from Brake. Road safety is at the heart of our operations, and we will continue to make a significant commitment to embed a safe driver culture within our company and sub-contractor community. We look forward to building on this success through further collaboration with Brake, to strive for exceptional standards of driver safety across our business."
Brake, the road safety charity, celebrates the achievements of organisations and individuals across the world, working to reduce crashes and prevent pollution caused by vehicles driven for work.
Sarah Plumb, senior fleet officer at Brake added: "Brake would like to congratulate VolkerRail on winning the award for company driver safety (medium fleet). In their entry, VolkerRail showed a clear dedication to continually improving the health, safety and wellbeing of its employees and contractors alike, firmly embedding work-related road safety in the company ethos. A huge well done to everyone involved."
