Kier Wins £3.4m School Extension Contract
Norfolk County Council has chosen Kier to deliver £3.4 million extension works at Hethersett Primary school.
The project will consist of constructing a standalone eight classroom, single-storey teaching block, which includes a new Library space, Studio Hall and Group Rooms; together with minor refurbishment of some areas within the existing school. It will also incorporate external works including car parking, hard and soft play, external drainage and external service upgrades.
The project is associated with the reorganisation of Hethersett VC Junior School to an all through Primary School. The works shall transform the capacity of the School from 240 to 420 places. Building works will begin in late 2019 and complete in Autumn 2020.
Mark Dady, managing director at Kier Regional Building Eastern, said: "We're very happy to have been selected to deliver the extension at Hethersett Primary School to provide much-needed improvements and space for additional pupils. We have a strong knowledge of the region through various works we have delivered in the area and we look forward to working closely with Norwich County Council."
Matthew Parslow-Williams, head teacher at Hethersett Primary School also said: "This is an exciting time in the school's history, and we are delighted to be working with Kier on our primary transition journey. Our well-resourced school with a wide range of facilities is going to be enriched with a brand new eight classroom block – fantastic for the children of Hethersett."
Hethersett Primary School is the latest appointment for Kier on the previous iteration of the Norfolk County Council framework. In September, it completed works on the brand-new White House Farm primary school in Sprowston, creating an additional 420 primary school places in the area.
In October 2019, Kier was successful in being placed on the new Norfolk County Council Major Construction Work Framework on Lot 2 for projects valued over £3.5m.
