A £14 million project has seen a hospital in Bangor, Wales, upgraded with a new Emergency Department.
Vaughan Gething, Minister for Health & Social Services, officially opened the facility at Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital for the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is the largest health organisation in Wales, with a budget of £1.3bn and a workforce of more than 17,000 staff. It provides primary, community, mental health and acute hospital services for North Wales.
Interserve Construction delivered the project after being appointed as a Supply Chain Partner on the Welsh Government's 'Designed for Life: Building for Wales 3' National Framework in late 2012. The framework focuses on projects in Wales with a construction value of above £10m and is procured and managed by NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership.
Interserve Construction Divisional Director, Phil Shaw, said: "The completion of the Ysbyty Gwynedd Emergency Department underscores our strong track record in healthcare infrastructure across the UK. In delivering this project, Interserve has been able to support the NHS in its provision of high quality, equitable and sustainable health services for Wales.
"Interserve Construction have enjoyed collaborating with the Welsh Government and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to provide value for money and integrated supply chains drawing on our proven capabilities in the UK health sector."
