A former Kier director is set to take the reins at Torsion Group and lead the firm into surpassing £150 million turnover in 2020.
Jonathan Payne is joining the Yorkshire construction company to support the continued profitable growth of the business and as part of the wider restructuring programme of the group of Torsion companies.
He brings a wealth of industry experience to the new Managing Director role at Torsion, boasting stints at national firms John Laing Construction and Willmott Dixon. Jonathan also joined Kier Construction in 2015 as MD for its Southern Region, before securing a promotion to Director of its Construction Division with overall responsibility for the enlarged Southern & Thames Valley Region after three years.
CEO Dan Spencer of Torsion commented: "We have worked extremely hard to deliver our 5-year strategy since forming the company and the appointment of Jonathan will ensure we have the continued success and leadership of Torsion Group. It is an exciting time, and our growing pipeline of Student and Residential Schemes in Torsion Developments and the emergence of the Torsion Care business will continue to provide opportunities. Jonathan joining the business to lead and strengthen Torsion Group is a huge milestone for the wider group of companies, and I look forward to many successful years together as we look to implement the next 5-year strategy."
This latest Torsion appointment is on the back of securing several significant new contract awards from its sister company Torsion Developments, as well as two new construction contracts for external clients.
The firm has also recently featured as a 'Ones to Watch' company in the annual Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 Awards, and Wardhadaway's Fastest 50 Yorkshire; 'Fastest Growing Large' and 'Overall Business' Awards in 2019.
