Construction News Image
Top UK water provider Severn Trent (ST) has awarded a new Building Maintenance contract.

Contractor GRAHAM has been appointed to deliver work over a three-year reactive contract.

Under the contract, GRAHAM will be responsible for ST's estate across Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and Derbyshire. ST serves over eight million people in the heart of the UK, supplying nearly two billion litres of drinking water a day.

GRAHAM will self-deliver a reactive and planned building and civils minor maintenance works programme that will incorporate STW's sites, buildings and structures.

Beginning in May 2020, the measured term contract will be directed from the newly opened GRAHAM office in Wythall, bordering Solihull and Birmingham.

Commenting on the successful appointment, GRAHAM Operations Director, Gareth Smyth, said: "We are delighted to have been awarded this prestigious contract with Severn Trent Water. STW operates in an area of more than 21,000 square kilometres that includes Birmingham and ten other major industrial cities.

"We have established a strong presence in the Midlands and look forward to applying our quality service delivery model to this contract. The success is testament to the reputation we have built in the water sector where we have consistently demonstrated the highest standards across our portfolio, including our two NI Water contracts - Building Maintenance and Above Ground Minor Works and M&E First Response Managed Service Support."

Reactive maintenance will involve repairs to existing STW buildings, with elements of joinery, reactive roofing repairs and paving (even repairs to dry-stone walls).

Planned maintenance will focus on painting and related cyclical works such as window replacements and roof repairs.

Minor capital works also fall under the contract scope and may include the construction of new access roads, new paths, parking and hard-standing areas, workplace improvements and small building refurbishments.
