Significant Progress Made On Healthcare Facility Development
Significant progress has been made on the development of a new healthcare facility in London.
Cleveland Clinic London and Sir Robert McAlpine confirmed construction work at 33 Grosvenor Place has continued successfully whilst maintaining the safety of onsite workers during the pandemic.
The combined project team is making positive progress towards a revised completion date of the building work in September 2021. The hospital is expected to open in early 2022 after a short period of commissioning. Cleveland Clinic London will begin seeing patients in its outpatient clinic located at 24 Portland Place from Autumn 2021.
Work at Cleveland Clinic London had to temporarily pause when the Covid-19 crisis hit in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the workforce. As lockdown restrictions have eased, appropriate site operating procedures have been implemented to resume work safely in line with government and industry guidelines.
Paul Hamer, Chief Executive of Sir Robert McAlpine, said: "We are proud to work with Cleveland Clinic London on delivering this world class healthcare facility in the heart of London. Despite the current challenges of the pandemic which has added significant complexity to the project, the resilience and commitment of the team has been exemplary, allowing construction to resume safely and progress at pace."
Dr Brian Donley, CEO of Cleveland Clinic London, added: "We are incredibly excited to be bringing Cleveland Clinic London to life. The Covid-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges and an unavoidable delay due to lockdown, but we are now making great progress whilst ensuring the safety of all workers on site. We are building one of the most technologically advanced hospitals in the UK, a state-of-the-art facility, and are thrilled to confirm this new completion date."
