E.ON Announces 100 New Jobs

Construction News Image
Energy firm E.ON is recruiting for up to 100 new permanent roles including electricians and roofers as well as safety assessors and customer service staff to support its ongoing successful delivery of the Local Authority Delivery (LAD) element of the Government’s Green Homes Grant (GHG) scheme.

E.ON has welcomed the Government's recently announced reallocation of funding into the LAD element of the GHG and is already working with around a dozen council partners as part of the scheme, providing low carbon heating and energy efficiency improvements for as many as 4,400 eligible households, completely free of charge.

Contracts already underway, in the North East and North West of England and across the Midlands, will give those customers about £30 million of lifetime bill savings, reducing carbon emissions by around 220,000 tonnes – the equivalent of taking 50,000 cars off the road each year.

The new roles include positions in the administration of the various projects such as planning, customer support and project management, as well as the more specific technical positions including electrical installers, roofers, Gas Safe assessors and Health and Safety support. E.ON also expects its supply chain partners and sub-contractors to see similar growth as they support the projects.

Michael Lewis, Chief Executive of E.ON UK, said: "Given the success of the LAD scheme, and the fact it is oversubscribed, we welcome the Government’s announcement of an extra £300 million of funding to this programme. By reallocating this funding from the Green Homes Grant voucher scheme we can make sure some of that untapped demand is picked up, helping even more people around the country.

"By working with local authority partners, we are delivering new investment in energy efficiency, driving the creation of new jobs, creating better homes and reducing energy bills along the way. Not only is that good for helping the UK to meet its net zero climate change targets, it is also one of the most effective ways to kick-start the economy and begin to build back better."
