Kier has completed the final phase of its £6m transformation project of Saint George Catholic College in Southampton.

Appointed by the Diocese of Portsmouth and Southampton City Council in 2019, the school now has a range of state-of-the-art teaching and sporting facilities.

Part of the Department of Education's Priority Schools Building Programme, Kier has built a new science and technology three-storey building, constructed a new hard play area, installed modular classrooms and demolished an old teaching block. New fencing and infrastructure have also been fitted across the school’s estate.

As part of Kier's commitment to leaving lasting legacies in the places it works, job and training opportunities were regularly provided as well as engagement events with students of the school. In addition, Kier worked with Leaside Way Tenants & Residents Association to build an enclosed dog area within the park situated next to the college.

Louisa Finlay, managing director of Regional Building Southern, stated: "We are proud to have completed this transformation for Saint George Catholic College. The new facilities offer pupils and teachers modern, vibrant learning spaces which we hope will be enjoyed for years to come.

"As part of our commitment to delivering social value where we work, we have also worked with a range of local organisations and provided a range of job and training opportunities for the people of Southampton."
