Jarvis To Develop 'Avenues At Riverwell' Project
Jarvis Contracting has been selected to develop the 'Avenues at Riverwell' scheme in Watford.
The firm was appointed by Watford Health Campus Partnership.
This is the latest phase of Watford Riverwell: a £400 million regeneration project transforming 70 acres of land south of Watford General Hospital and Watford Football Club, providing new homes, shops, community facilities and open spaces.
Avenues at Riverwell will see 192 residential dwellings delivered across two phases, directly south of Watford FC's Vicarage Road football stadium. 62 units will be for Watford Community Housing, the affordable housing partner for the scheme.
Phase 1 (due for completion in summer 2023) will deliver 12 maisonettes and 11 houses for affordable living, and 62 houses for open market sale - providing 85 homes overall.
Phase 2 (scheduled to start in spring 2023 and complete in winter 2024) will provide 50 apartments in a 7-storey block for shared ownership and open market sale, incorporating a ground floor community centre. A further 57 houses will be delivered as part of this phase, with 29 as affordable tenures.
This is the second time Jarvis has been appointed by Watford Health Campus Partnership to deliver a phase of this significant regeneration project in Watford. In 2019 we completed the first phase, known as ‘Woodlands’, which provided 95 apartments - 33 of which were for Watford Community Housing.
Mark Doyle, CEO said: "Following the success of Woodlands, the very first phase of the Riverwell regeneration programme, Jarvis have been very focused on continuing our excellent working relationship with all the project partners by securing the follow-on phase. We were extremely pleased when we were confirmed as the successful contractor to deliver the Avenues at Riverwell scheme.
"Jarvis has an excellent presence within Watford, having also recently become a Regional Partner for Watford Football Club, and we are committed to working with the client team to deliver another great community development."
Main works on Phase 1 will commence in the summer.
