Southwark Council has approved planning permission For EDGE's London project, EDGE London Bridge.
Located in St Thomas Street on London's South Bank, the smart building will mark EDGE's entry into the London market. The 260,000 sq ft tower will feature 27 floors of office accommodation.
The project will see EDGE bring its pioneering ethos of better, healthier and more sustainable buildings to the capital city. Designed in collaboration with renowned architects, Pilbrow and Partners, which specialise in sustainable construction and progressive workspace design, EDGE London Bridge promises to maximise the wellbeing of its occupants – as well as the community. A new, landscaped public park will be developed alongside the building, connecting the base of the tower to the wider community and creating a welcoming and lively space for all.
The building's striking façade is designed to celebrate the character of Bermondsey’s Victorian heritage, while the interior will boast EDGE's signature style: lots of daylight, fresh air, generous green terrace spaces with plants and high-quality, shared facilities. With wellness and connection at its core, EDGE London Bridge will also offer its tenants a club space with a large outdoor terrace overlooking the City, a modern gym and a publicly accessible coffee bar on the ground floor.
Like all EDGE developments, a combination of thoughtful design and smart technology will enhance the health, happiness and productivity of the building’s users. Air quality, occupancy and energy efficiency will all be closely monitored and adjusted using EDGE's smart-technology platform. With its sustainable design, the tower is set to achieve both BREEAM Outstanding certification and WELL Platinum.
The global pandemic has focused attention upon the need for better workplaces which are healthy, safe and sustainable. For more than 20 years, EDGE has been at the forefront of developing real estate which inspires occupants and believes that now more than ever is the time to deliver these workspaces.
