GRAHAM Installs EVC Units At SERC Downpatrick Campus

Construction News Image
Construction firm GRAHAM has completed the supply and installation of two new twin Electric Vehicle Charging (EVC) units at South Eastern Regional College’s (SERC) Downpatrick campus.

In compliance with the college's 'Going Green' strategy, the company worked in partnership with its specialist subcontractor, J&R Electrical, to finalise the green energy project in mid-May 2021.

Two 22kW Twin Quantum EV Chargers have been installed at the rear car park. Each has two allocated parking bays that are demarcated in green paint with white painted e-car logos.

The EV units are fed via Matt-e PEN Fault Detection Units that are located in the basement of the college.

Users can now park in one of the bays and plug in their Type 2 charging lead from the EV to the charger. Once they scan the QR Code located in the Type 2 socket outlet, charging begins.

The user is charged a tariff per kWh for using the charger, which is set by the college using a Vendelectric Management System.

Commenting on the green energy initiative at the college, Ryan Connor, GRAHAM Facilities Manager, said: "SERC is proactively green and it has a clear vision, with defined strategies and measurable targets. The new EVC units at its Downpatrick campus are a clear statement of its intent to go green. We worked closely with J&R Electrical to ensure the smooth outcome of this project. It was delivered professionally in line with our agreed programme of works. I would highly recommend J&R Electrical for other project works."
