Genesis Homes is set to launch construction work on a new housing development at Eamont Chase, in Carleton, near Penrith, to address a need for more homes in the area as identified in the Eden Local Plan.
The layout, design and appearance of the development was this week approved by Eden District Council's planning committee after councillors heard that 5,000 square metres of amenity space would be created along with other ecological features.
A wildflower grass area will be created and various trees and shrubs will be planted throughout the development, while footpaths will be constructed to allow residents to enjoy the visually attractive green spaces.
Eamont Chase will comprise a range of two to five bedroom houses and bungalows and is located close to the River Eamont, giving residents stunning views of nearby Brougham Castle and Lowther Castle.
Nicky Gordon, the Managing Director of Genesis Homes, said: "Providing plenty of green space and amenities for the residents and wider community is something we strive to achieve, and we are pleased to be able to do so with this development.
"A key aim of Genesis Homes is to offer green open spaces and recreational areas at all our developments, and we want to encourage more people to enjoy the nature on their doorsteps by creating safe walkways and cycle routes through these green areas.
"We pride ourselves on providing high specification, energy efficient homes and we choose our locations very carefully, and we know there is a real need for more housing within the Eden Valley."
As well as its picturesque location, Eamont Chase boasts great transport links due to its close proximity to the M6 and A66.
The development is also just a mile-and-a-half from Penrith, meaning there is great access to local amenities, such as schools, shops, pubs and restaurants.
Mr Gordon added: "The site has been designed to create a pleasant residential environment with all the benefits of community life and facilities, providing ample employment opportunities in the process."
Outline planning permission for up to 96 dwellings was approved in 2018 by Eden District Council.
