Cabinlocator's Charity Of 2022
Happy New Year everyone!
Wishing everyone health and happiness in 2022.
Following our Festive holiday shutdown everyone is back at Cabinlocator HQ and ready to crack on with the busy month ahead.
Something new for 2022 we would like to share with you is our company charity!
This will be the first year Cabinlocator has picked a specific charity to support and raise money for as a collective effort from all staff.
We asked staff to nominate their favourite charities and put those charities to an internal vote.
Drum roll please… we are pleased to announce our charity of the year is…
Tofs! The wonderful charity that supports those born unable to swallow.
TOF stands for Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula (and OA Oesophageal Atresia), both conditionals are rare congenital conditions of the oesophagus (food pipe) and/or trachea (airway) that affect one in every 3,500 babies.
Babies born with OA/TOF need to have intensive neo-natal care prior to corrective surgery, normally within days of birth.
Some children must undergo additional surgical interventions later in life. Whilst many children born with OA/TOF will experience only a few problems, others may have difficulties with swallowing and digesting food, Gastro-Oesophageal Reflux (where the acidic stomach contents pass back into the lower oesophagus) and respiratory problems. The effects of surgery and associated health problems may add a great deal to the usual challenges of parenthood.
The charity was nominated by one of our staff members whose grandson was born without his oesophagitis fully developed, and the charity supports their family.
Tofs has been a registered charity since 1987 and aims to help everyone born with TOF/OA and their families. It was developed from a small parent support group to an internationally recognised charity!
We are busy planning a full year’s event schedule of bake sales, fun runs, quizzes and who knows what else!
We are looking forwards to our team working together to raise money for this fantastic charity and hopefully have some fun along the way!
We’ll sharing our events on social media so make sure you follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Linkedin.
