Construction firm GRAHAM has been selected to deliver the Crown Works residential development in Birmingham.
Negotiated under a Pre-Construction Service Agreement, GRAHAM will design and build a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments across 138,000 sq. ft of space. The seven storey Build to Rent scheme is being developed by Europa Capital, with Xian Developments as development managers, and will also include two ground floor retail units, totalling 3,700 sq. ft, and 5,900 sq. ft of flexible amenity space, containing a gym, co-working area and private dining and concierge services.
Located on Hanley Street in the Gun Quarter of the city, a short walk from the Birmingham Snow Hill train station and the city’s growing Colmore Business District and entertainment district, the development will provide panoramic views across Birmingham's skyline, accessible from the private residents’ roof terrace. Residents of the three duplex apartments will also have access to this view from their own individual terraces.
The apartments will benefit from the installation of roof top solar panels and this access to green energy is expected to contribute toward the development achieving an EPC rating of B and a BREEAM Excellent rating for the completed commercial units.
Ronan Hughes, GRAHAM Regional Director – Midlands, said: "Birmingham's growing business district and the recent investment in its public transport sector means that there is an increasing demand to both live and work in the city. This development will help meet that need and provide the high-quality rental accommodation that the city requires. GRAHAM has extensive experience in delivering projects in the area, such as the recently completed Grand Hotel, and we look forward to using this to deliver Europa Capital’s first scheme in the region."
