Sisk Appoints New COO
John Sisk & Son has appointed Ajaz Shafi as Chief Operating officer (COO) of its business in the UK.
This follows the appointment of previous COO Paul Brown to the Chief Executive position late last year.
Commenting on this appointment Paul Brown CEO said: "I am delighted to announce that Ajaz will take over the leadership of our business in the UK. I congratulate him on his appointment and look forward to continuing to work with him and his team as we grow our business in the UK in key regions and sectors.
"We look forward to continuing to deliver for our clients in the UK under Ajaz’s leadership and to expanding our construction and civils presence in key sectors such as Data Centres and Life Sciences and grow our regional presence in the North and Northeast as well as the home counties."
Commenting on his appointment Ajaz said: "I am delighted to be entrusted with this new role and look forward to successfully growing the business, working closely with our talented teams, excellent clients and trusted supply chain."
Ajaz is a civil engineer with over 30 years' experience working for major contracting organisations in the UK, Hong Kong, India and the Middle East delivering a range of challenging and complex infrastructure and building projects. Ajaz joined Sisk in 2013, initially managing the company's UAE division before taking up the position as Managing Director for the UK South business. Ajaz has been in this role for the last 6 years and driving the growth of that business in London, Birmingham, and the Ox-Cam arc, with some standout projects including the Royal Academy of Arts, various projects at Wembley Park for Quintain and the Mercian, Birmingham’s tallest residential tower (42 floors).
Sisk's business in the UK is spread across the country with regional hubs in the South in St Albans, Solihull in the Midlands and Warrington in the Northwest. The company also has a rail maintenance business based in Bristol and is active on a range of civil engineering projects.
In addition to Ajaz's appointment in the UK, Construction Board Director Mark McGreevy has been appointed to the new role of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) for John Sisk & Son.
