Amey Announce Recruitment Event

Amey has announced a recruitment event in partnership with Staffordshire County Council and South Staffordshire Council.

The Journey to Work event is for those looking for work or in need of some top tips to help them into employment.

The event is taking place on Wednesday 27th April 2022 at the recently refurbished, Codsall Community Hub. The event, which is free for anyone to attend, runs from 10am until 4pm and provides several opportunities for people to ask questions, pick up top tips and apply for local jobs.

Representatives from Amey's recruitment team, recruitment agency Hays, Staffordshire County Council and South Staffordshire Council careers team, will be on hand to share local vacancies that will be available for people to apply for at the event, all they need to do is to bring along their CV.

There will also be a host of career experts on hand throughout the day to offer advice and guidance: from writing a CV, to applying for jobs and completing job applications, to interview techniques and understanding what to wear.

Staffordshire County Council's cabinet member for highways and transport David Williams, who is also South Staffordshire Council's cabinet member for business transformation, said: "As a county council one of our priorities is to ensure people have access to better skilled, better paid employment and so we're pleased to work with our partners at Amey and South Staffordshire Council to organise this free event. We hope that it will make a difference to people attending - giving them new opportunities and broadening their career prospects."

Recognising that being unemployed and applying for jobs can have an impact on mental health, Jamie Forsyth, wellbeing coach and mental health ambassador, who used to work on Amey's Staffordshire Highways Contract, will be on hand to share top tips and resilience techniques that will help alleviate the stresses that looking for work can cause.

Karen Hopley, People Director for Transport Infrastructure at Amey, said: "We understand that finding work can be incredibly difficult, that's why we've put together a day event to help provide local people with the skills and support needed to get them back into work.

"Working in collaboration with Staffordshire County Council, South Staffordshire Council and Hays recruitment, we'll be sharing current vacancies, which people can apply for on the day, as well as sharing tips and techniques to empower and support them on their journey to work."
