Plans for a second phase of low carbon, modular homes at Wirral Waters have been submitted.
A further 55 waterside homes will soon be added to the emerging Northbank neighbourhood at Wirral Waters, if approved by Wirral Council.
Plans for the second phase of the £55m residential development, which is being developed through a joint venture between Peel L&P and House by Urban Splash, have now been submitted to Council planners.
The homes will each be created using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), and are precision engineered in the House by Urban Splash factory. They are then delivered to Northbank where they will occupy the west side of the Grade II listed Grain Warehouses, mirroring the first 30 homes already on site and shortly to be completed to the east of Northbank.
Planning applications for the final two phases are expected to be submitted next year. When complete, this part of the Northbank neighbourhood at Wirral Waters will include a total of 351 modular, factory-built homes.
The latest phase of the development will include a mix of the award winning 'Town House' and 'Row House' modular homes; the latter is a new concept coming first to Merseyside, offering a range of layouts in a mews inspired home. Prices for the current phase of homes start from £210,000 with Help to Buy available.
The House by Urban Splash homes are sustainably designed, with peer reviewed data released last month revealing the fully electric ‘Town House’ home is over 50% more energy efficient than the average new build home, exceeding all carbon reduction targets.
Town House emits over 20% less carbon than the aspirational target for best practice and has been created using sustainable timber, which emits over 70% less carbon in its construction process than the average building, and over 50% less carbon than the best practice benchmark.
Richard Mawdsley, Peel L&P's Director of Development for Wirral Waters, said: "Through our joint venture with House by Urban Splash, we are bringing the very latest in sustainable housing design and innovation to Wirral Waters.
"Following hot on the heels of the successful first phase, which is already taking shape along Northbank, this much-needed second phase of modular homes will mean we can further contribute to the shortfall in local housing, well away from any green belt land, and will ensure the delivery of new homes for families, individuals and couples in a highly contemporary, sustainable and accessible location."
