Inland Homes Hands Over Apartments To B3Living
Inland Homes has handed over 46 apartments to Broxbourne based housing association, B3Living, at its Hertfordshire scheme, Cheshunt Lakeside.
To mark the occasion, Leader of the Council, Councillor Lewis Cocking and Siobhan Monaghan, Cabinet Member for Housing at Borough of Broxbourne Council attended an onsite event.
Cheshunt Lakeside is a major project for the Borough of Broxbourne and once complete, will incorporate a new community of around 1,725 homes, commercial space, community benefits, and a new primary school. The first phase of construction is a partnership scheme with B3Living. In total, 195 affordable homes across two buildings will be delivered within this phase. The 46 one and two bedroom apartments officially handed over at the event will be available on affordable rent tenure and residents will begin moving in imminently. The remaining 149 apartments are due for completion at the end of January 2023 and will include 83 shared ownership and 66 rental tenure apartments.
Councillor Cocking at Broxbourne Borough Council commented: "B3Living has invested £50million into this development to provide affordable homes to local people. This is in addition to the affordable homes agreed as part of the section 106 agreement with Inland Homes.
"We know the financial pressures people are under, particularly at the moment, and many struggle to find suitable accommodation on the private rented market or cannot afford to take the first step into home ownership. There is also a lack of affordable housing provision. B3Living is taking steps to address that shortage and I am so pleased that many local families will benefit from a high quality place to live."
Mike Butler, Construction Director at Inland Homes, commented: "We're delighted to handover these apartments to B3Living, not only providing much-needed homes to Broxbourne residents but also, marking a major milestone of the Cheshunt Lakeside regeneration. It’s wonderful to work with Broxbourne Borough Council and B3Living to bring the vision to life and see the new community start to take shape."
