NEC, the construction industry's leading procurement contract provider, has launched a podcast series and an app, which brings NEC users, communities and content closer together.
The NEC Contracts Community App is designed to support understanding of the NEC family suite of contracts and aims to connect users worldwide, whilst NEC's newly launched monthly podcast series will take a deep dive into how its contracts are being used across the globe.
Rekha Thawrani, Global Head of NEC, said: "The construction industry can often be seen as operating within the confines of geographical boundaries, but NEC believes the sector’s future must be more collaborative if it is to tackle the industry's future challenges.
"That's why we’re delighted to launch our NEC Contracts Community App, which we hope will be used as a collaborative space, bringing the NEC community of users and practitioners together in a dedicated, interactive platform.
"It offers online themed discussion forums for members to join and connect with each other to share expertise, resources and best practice in their sector or market - making it accessible for the community across the globe.
"The app also includes resource hubs, which offer a diverse range of content, including papers, videos and podcasts relating to a particular NEC theme or topic. NEC Users' Group members will have access to exclusive content, including recorded event presentations and slide decks."
Alongside the app, NEC has also launched a new monthly podcast series. The NEC Spotlight Podcasts will feature interviews with senior project team members and NEC practitioners to show how collaborative-style NEC contracts are helping deliver high quality built-environment projects around the world: quickly, cost-effectively and fairly.
The first episode, released in June, featured an interview with Mark Thurston and Keith Lomas from HS2, currently the world’s biggest NEC-procured project. They discuss why NEC was chosen for the £73 billion railway, how it is benefitting delivery and lessons learned to date.
