Work Begins On 135-Home Development In Northamptonshire
Avant Homes has started work on a 11.5-acre site in Desborough, Northamptonshire to deliver a £35m, 135-home development.
The new development, named Viridian Meadows, received planning approval from Kettering Borough Council in March 2022.
Located just off Buxton Drive and Eyam Close, the development will comprise a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes and feature 16 of Avant Homes' design-led house types. Of the 135 homes, 30 per cent will dedicated to affordable housing.
An additional £1.4m community contribution from the housebuilder will be designated to enhancing the local area including provision for education, public open space and play areas. The funds will also support highway works, town centre improvements, libraries and public transport.
It is estimated that the first homes will be released for sale this autumn and be ready for occupation by the end of 2022. The approximate build length of the development is estimated to take around three and a half years and will create further employment opportunities in the area in conjunction with the nearby Barton Point development in Kettering.
Avant Homes Midlands Managing Director, Rob Slocombe, said: "We're very pleased to have works underway on the first homes of this new development in Desborough. The development will make a great addition to the area by forming a natural extension of the residential area in the town and create job opportunities for local people.
"We're hugely excited to get started at Viridian Meadows and look forward to see the development works progressing over the coming months."
