Morgan Sindall Construction's Southern Home Counties Business has been selected to Kent County Council's (KCC) £500 million Property Construction Partnership Framework.
Officially launched in August, the four-year deal will predominantly cover school building work such as extensions, refurbishments and alterations. Other types of non-education building projects will also be included.
The tier one contractor, which has a regional office in Canterbury, was selected as one of four building partners to the framework.
Morgan Sindall Construction's local presence, commitment to enhancing Kent’s communities and proven experience in delivering innovative projects that meet the area’s requirements were central aspects of its appointment.
The contractor was also able to show that its sustainable, Intelligent Solutions informed approach aligned with KCC's net zero strategy. This included Morgan Sindall Construction's increased use of modern methods of construction (MMC) and advanced carbon reduction methods, such as its in-house digital carbon reduction tool CarboniCa.
12 district councils as more than 300 parish and town councils may use the new framework to procure and deliver work across the South East. The educational infrastructure in Kent consists of nearly 600 schools and the county’s secondary pupil population is forecast to grow by 6,600 students over the next five years.
Guy Hannell, Morgan Sindall Construction's Southern Home Counties area director, said: "Being rooted in Kent and its communities, we understand the crucial role that the built environment - and in particular schools - play for the people living and working in the county.
"This connection means we’re firmly committed to delivering projects that provide as much value as possible for the local area. This is illustrated not just by the buildings we create that are designed to support the region’s needs, but also by our investment in local businesses and supply chains as well as the social value initiatives we implement to boost employment opportunities and skills.
"Our ability to combine a deep knowledge and appreciation of Kent's neighbourhoods with a proven ability to tackle complex projects and use sustainable, cutting-edge methods were all key to our selection. We’re now looking forward to continuing our close working relationship with the council and creating some truly special places for the county’s students and residents."
