Repair Work To Start On Collapsed Drain In Ellesmere Port
Cheshire West and Chester Council has announced it is to repair a collapsed drain in the town centre car park between the Market Hall and Aldi in Ellesmere Port.
The site is Council-owned, and work has been arranged to begin on Monday 10 October 2022.
Councillor Karen Shore, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport, said: "Many residents made comments regarding the foul stench coming from grids at the site. Initially investigations were needed to determine the likely cause of the problem and our teams are now working as quickly as possible to arrange for the collapsed drain to be replaced and it is hoped this will resolve the issue. However, the collapse has hindered the investigations and inspections will be carried out after the works to ensure no further action is required."
The repairs are expected to take around a week as there is considerable damage to the drain.
