Levelling Up Minister Simon Clarke has commended Vistry Partnerships North East's Bracken Range development in Middlesborough during his first visit to a housing project in his new role.
He welcomed the progress on the mixed tenure site, the first in the region to deliver homes for sale, shared ownership, affordable and private rent.
During his discussion with Sean Egan, Divisional Managing Director, North, he was particularly interested to hear how mixed tenure projects like this are accelerating housing delivery – with three to four times the outputs of more traditional housebuilding schemes.
The MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, said: "This development, in the heart of Middlesbrough, will support affordable homes for people who need them and unlock growth. It is also vital for key public services, like the hospital next door, at James Cook."
Sean Egan added: "It was fantastic to meet with the minister, to show him the scale of the initiative. There are 360 homes, with 50% pre-sold to RP and PRS partners. This not only improves the housing choice for local communities but also drives up the speed of delivery to meet housing needs."
