Work Starts On New Apartments At Care Home In Pontefract
Construction work has started on new apartments at a care home in Pontefract.
Specialist care provider, Exemplar Health Care, has begun on-site construction in Pontefract, which will see a £1.5M investment to increase its service offering at the Bennett Court care home.
Bennett Court specialises in supporting people living with dementia, acquired brain injury, complex mental health conditions and physical disabilities.
Due for completion in early 2023, the work will include building nine new apartments adjacent to the main building. As well as increasing capacity at the home, the new apartments will provide quality care for those adults with complex and high acuity needs that adapt better in a smaller group living space and will support those that are on a rehabilitation pathway, supporting them with independence and life skills.
Walter Thompson Contractors Limited have been appointed by Exemplar Health Care to develop the nine new apartments at Bennett Court. Mark Ingleby at Walter Thompson, said: "We are pleased to announce that, through collaborative working, construction has started for new care apartments in Pontefract. We look forward to completing this project early next year."
Amanda Mitchell, Home Manager for Bennett Court, said: "Having already established Bennett Court as a leading specialist care home in the Pontefract area, we are delighted to be able to expand and grow our offering. Our goal is to support people in and around Pontefract who are living with a range of complex conditions and are misplaced or remain in hospital settings, due to the shortage of specialist nursing homes in the area. We have no doubt that the local communities of Pontefract will benefit from this facility.
"In addition to increasing capacity at the home, the new apartments will allow us to accommodate those who require more specialised care in smaller group settings. Each of the new apartments will allow our residents to have their own private space within the home whilst receiving the highest quality of personalised care."
With over 35 homes across Yorkshire, the Midlands, the North East and North West, Exemplar Health Care provides person-centred care and rehabilitation that focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.
Available for referrals are four two bed apartments and one single apartment. Each apartment has an en-suite and living area, and will have access to their own private garden away from the main building.
